Book The Firebrand (Highland Treasure Trilogy Book 3) Review :

In the early days of Henry VIII, a family inherits the sacred responsibility of guarding a priceless relic dubbed the Treasure of Tiberius. Protecting the treasure is at the front of everyone's mind, but nothing is as it seems. As scheming and treachery lead to the father's death, the mother hides in the lowlands while sending her three daughters, each with a portion of the map to the treasure, to distant locations in the Highlands and Islands. Unbeknownst to the girls, a prospective husband awaits at each point of shelter, but conflict and misunderstanding fly before the couples recognize their attraction.I found the quick jumping back and forth between characters distracting in this volume. A longer time in each branch of the story would have been less distracting. Will three young women and their highly respected mother be able to safeguard the treasure which remains a complete mystery to them? Will conflict-fraught attractions find solid ground? And finally, will the Treasure of Tiberius reveal itself at last, or be stolen by greedy men who hope to use it to gain wealth and power? The McGoldricks could have done better than offer three copycat romances: three stunning, remarkable daughters, 3 astonishingly handsome and capable men tangle with a dangerous and unknown enemy. While this is not their best effort, each book will keep you up into the wee hours.
Pretty sure I've read them all now. I did try to read them in order. I like her (their) work. There's a plot, of course they fall in love. I mean it is romance after all. The phrases seem accurate and authentic for the time period. It is best to read them in order. I love the lineage of the families they bring into their work. There's some sex, not much. If I remember correctly they could be easily skipped if that is offensive to the reader. Most of their writing focuses on things other than sex. I like the way they paint the attire of the people so the characters feel real. They aren't always in their finest clothing and the use of their descriptives helps to set an image of simple dress when that would be normal. I think their books all focus on the interpersonal relationships within the family and sometimes the breakdowns within the families. I suggest reading all of the May McGoldrick books!
